Enrique Iglesias Will Inaugurate Virtual Educa Caribe 2007
Santo Domingo. March 14th, 2007.

Enrique Iglesias, Secretary General of the Ibero-American Secretariat will impart a conference titled “The Future of the Ibero-American Community”. This conference will officially inaugurate the second Ibero – American forum on New Technology, Virtual Educa Caribe 2007, organized by Global Foundation for Democracy and Development/ Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo.

This conference will take place on Monday march 19th, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. in the FUNGLODE headquarters in Santo Domingo. It will be the formal inauguration of the two day forum that will take place March 20th and 21st, 2007. This year’s events will be based on the “Capacity, Innovation, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Sustainable Development” topics.

Enrique Iglesias was appointed Secretary-General of the Ibero-American Secretariat in October 2005, following 17 years as President of the Inter American Development Bank in Washington DC. He held the post of Foreign Minister of Uruguay (1985-1988); Executive Secretary of ECLAC (1972-1985); General Secretary of the United Nations Conference on Sources of New and Renewable Energy (Nairobi, Kenya, 1982); and President of the Ministerial Meeting that launched the Uruguay Round of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) in Punta del Este, Uruguay (1986). He was President of the Central Bank of Uruguay from 1967 to 1969.
